Affordability
Less than half the average total cost of a comparable private, residential, liberal arts college in the U.S.

STU is a true academic community. Students feel at home here.
Parents of our U.S. students think of themselves as financial wizards… really. One mom said that we saved her retirement account. Her daughter will graduate from STU and they will come through it debt-free. Think about it. We are a small residential college, 2,500 students. Students and professors and staff know each other well, and are friends. The classroom experience is conversation-based, and encourages discussion and debate with fellow students from countries around the world. And our full cost of tuition, room and board is close to $20,00.00 per year.
Six of every ten incoming students receive scholarships.
The same financial aid programs available to students attending college in the U.S. are available here and St. Thomas offers numerous work study options, for example, students who choose to be research assistants for their professors earn a salary for their effort, just like graduate students studying for their masters degree.
In the U.S., the average cost of tuition, room and board at a private college is approaching $40,000.00. We’re half that. If you compare St. Thomas to a large, public university in your home state, the cost may be similar to ours, but the experience will be far different. Here, you’ll never be one of hundreds in a lecture hall, you’ll be a contributor to the learning in a class of students who know each other, with a professor who is both a scholar and a guide– a teacher, mentor and friend.
Think about it. A beautiful campus, friendly people, amazing professors, and a global community of fellow students. At an affordable cost.

When I received a pamphlet for STU in the mail, I looked at is as “I’ll never be able to afford this, it’s in a different country!” But what drew me to check out the actual price was my relation to Canada, being born in Nova Scotia & having many relatives there. Seeing as the cost is very low, I’m excited to apply next year, my senior year in high school. I would love to return to Canada for college! Such a beautiful campus!
